I like music that is good for dancing. My favorite salsa groups are Sonora Carruseles and Fruko Y Su Tesos.

I am no longer seeking a dance partner.

I am in a very happy relationship with my wife, Kathy, and we both love to dance.

I was formerly an accountant and a database programmer, but I just completed the Masters of Library and Information Science program at UCLA, with a specialization in Informatics (information technology). I am looking for Web-related job, or a job researching information.

I started doing lead-and-follow partner dancing in 1998. My favorite dances are salsa and country 2-step, and I also dance west coast swing, nightclub 2-step, hustle, lindy/east coast swing, and cha cha.

I have performed all of the above dances, plus some other country-western dances, on the Country In Motion amateur dance team (http://www.dancingkathy.com/CountryInMotion/) since 1999. I was also a member of Jay Byam's amateur lindy/east coast swing dance team, the Swingmeisters.

I like to enter dance competitions, and I have won dance contests in salsa, west coast swing, country 2-step, lindy, and nightclub 2-step. I usually compete at the Intermediate level in salsa, and at the Novice level in the other dances (or at the lowest level available, which could be Open Amateur or Open).

When I was in high school, I was a very good musician, and I won our high school's "Outstanding Musician" award twice, and I was in 2 honor bands. Later I was in the UCLA Jazz Ensemble. My experience as a musician gives me an excellent ear for the rhythm, phrasing, and structure of music. This helps me to dance on rhythm and in phrase with the music, and to anticipate breaks and interpret the music in my dancing. Because of my awareness of the count of the (usually 8-beat) mini phrases in music, Jay Byam gave me the nickname "The Count" when I was on his Swingmeisters dance team.

My favorite dance spot is Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks. They have an excellent, fairly large dance floor, and they have several tables around the dance floor to sit. They have salsa on Tuesday nights, country 2-step on Wednesday nights, west coast swing on Mondays, and mixed country-western dances on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Dance is by far my favorite hobby.
