Other Casino instructors as well as dancers from all over the world.

Cuban son, danzon, casino, and timba music.

Single mom of three. I teach Casino/Rueda style salsa along with my daughter, Toni, at Ruta Maya Coffee House, South Austin, TX. Check out our website at http://www.streetsalsa.com or Ruta Maya at http://www.rutamaya.net.

I am Cuban American and was first taught to dance by my dad when I was little girl. So I have been dancing to all kinds of Cuban music for a million years. I'm very big on professional development so I try to travel out of town to study annually. I've had the pleasure to take lessons from Julian Mejia, Mike & Simona, Nick Van Eyck, Henry Herrera, Rene Geitz, Enio & Teryl, and Carlos Tellez.

I was born in Miami so I go to Cafe Mystique when I'm in town. I was raised in West Los Angeles and love to dance in Culver City and the Cuban clubs of Monterrey Park. Salsa in Austin, is scare. The only "salsa club" is Copa's. Of course the Cuban sponsored events at Ruta Maya are always fun & muy caliente!

Hola Sandra. It was great to finally come to Austin and make a connection with you and your students. I hope you are having an awesome vacation. I intent to come back to Austin soon. I will let you know when. Also, the rueda group at the UC in Boulder and I are planning a mini Rueda Congress here in Santa Fe, the weekend of July 4th. It is going to be very small. We are focusing mainly with groups from Boulder, Denver, Tucson, AZ, and New Mexico. The idea is not to make money or anything it is just to established an official relationship, create a community, share moves and dance a whole lot together. We will probably charge a small fee to pay for the space we use and have a big dance Saturday night. I will try to find free places to stay for out of state people so they do not have to spend money on hotel. If you and your students would like to come, I can try to find free places(with friends) for you to stay and let you teach some of the moves you use in Austin. Nobody will get paid for anything. This is just to establish a rueda community in the area/region, a beginning.

Have an awesome day!

Thanks,

Carlos
